OUR BOARD
The Conservation District is led by a Board of five supervisors, three elected and two appointed by the Washington Conservation Commission. All board members serve three-year terms, are required to be a registered voter, and must own or occupy land within the Conservation District boundary. That includes most of Snohomish County and Camano Island. A conservation district supervisor is a public official who serves without compensation and who sets policy and direction for the conservation district. Board members meet monthly, attend trainings, and participate in statewide functions.

I grew up here in the Snohomish valley on a dairy farm. I knew early on I wanted to farm and so I pursued that goal. Today, we grow 40 acres of pumpkins, squash and gourds, 10 acres of sweet corn, 20 acres for corn maze. We have tens of thousands of visitors to our farm in the month of October. I became active in county government and on the agriculture policies which affect the farm land and farmers. I serve on the county agriculture advisory board, the Snohomish Conservation District board and Snohomish Cenex board. I have served on other committees and panels over the years all in support of agriculture and protecting our natural resources.

Retired Agriculture and Renewable Natural Resources Instructor teaching high school agriculture classes for thirty years. Currently operate small business repairing and maintaining agricultural equipment for local farmers. Also work for and with local farmers in the agricultural industry.

Spencer Fuentes, his wife Karen and their 3 children own and operate Hazel Blue Acres. This family farm is located near Silvana on the Stillaguamish River. It was a dairy farm until 1998 when Spencer purchased it from his mother. Spencer and his family grow Certified Organic blueberries for you-pick and purchase along with hazelnuts, orchard grass for hay and haylage, wheat and barley as well as some livestock.
As a lifelong resident of Snohomish County he has seen and experienced the growth over the past 5 ½ decades and the resulting pressures on the environment. He cares deeply for the area and has a desire to maintain the quality of it. As an active member of the Snohomish County Ag Resilience Steering Committee his record of attendance to the meetings shows his commitment to the duties and a desire to be involved. It is his goal to work to improve the quality of life of all the residents of Snohomish County.
