/What's your connection to the land?
We are an organic farm, dedicated to demonstrating the coexistence of agriculture and conservation. Our mission is to provide healthy, locally grown, organic fruit and vegetables for ourselves, friends, family and Snohomish County food banks.
What actions have you taken as a steward that you're most proud of and/or that you feel have made the biggest difference?
One of our seven acres has been dedicated to riparian habitat restoration along a coho salmon bearing stream and tributary. The planting also increases biodiversity on our farm, providing extended season habitat for pollinators and beneficial organisms. In addition, we are working with WSU and SCD to test the viability of grafting cultivated apples onto Pacific Crabapple rootstock in working riparian buffers. We hope this project will demonstrate the ability of apples to be grown in wet riparian soils, which will both reduce watering requirements and allow wider buffers to be economically planted.
What’s your hope for the next 75 years?
We hope the people of Puget Sound will find ways to sustainably coexist with each other and with the natural world.
