Adela is an agriculture resource planner for the Snohomish Conservation District's Agriculture Team. Born and raised in what's known as "The Salad Bowl of the World," Adela left her hometown of Salinas and earned her Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science and Management from the University of California, Davis. Before moving further north to Washington, she worked with University of California Cooperative Extension Farm Advisors with research trials in almond, walnut, prune, and pistachio orchards.
What do you like about living in the Pacific Northwest?
I enjoy the Pacific Northwest because:
a) it's absolutely gorgeous
b) no triple digit summers
c) every day I see something beautiful
d) I like to play hide-and-seek with the sun.
Why do you work here (at the District)?
Right time, right place? I have roots in agriculture and I've always wanted to be in a position where I can be a resource for my community, encourage curiosity, and strengthen and support people's desire to actively build long-term relationships with food and land. I think everybody at the district shows up and puts in their best leg work to help others learn about and practice responsible resource stewardship.
Bonus facts!
I have a Bernadoodle named Jackson, after a doctor on Grey's Anatomy
I love sunsets and bike rides
I would rather be ON the water paddleboarding, rowing, or kayaking instead of being IN the water
