From Farms to Food Banks - Part Two

On Saturday, June 2nd, we culminated the early part of our partnership with Housing Hope, by hosting a Project Showcase at one of their single-family homes in Monroe. Between 50-100 people came by to see the display garden, eat hot dogs, learn about rain barrels and raised beds, and best of all, they got to take home free veggie starts from the Monroe FFA and Reverend Jim Eichner's Food Bank Farm.

Learn more about the veggie starts here.

See how they easily built the raised beds using sheet mulching here.

As the season goes on, we plan to provide tailored information to everyone who elected to Plant A Row. (Take the Pledge!) Soon, you will be able to view simple maps to see where the nearest food bank is to you, and learn about their food needs, and hours of operation. Be sure to sign up for our Lawns to Lettuce E-News that comes out on the last Saturday of the month for these unique updates.

Give a person a tomato they have one meal. Give them a tomato start and they have tomatoes all summer long! We appreciate your interest in helping your neighbors eat fresh produce.
