From the Field (Trip)

Three SCD staff members, and one of our Vet Crew members spent the day at Lively Environmental Center in Mill Creek with 84 students, 31 chaperones, and 5 school staff from Riverview Elementary in Snohomish. The end of the school year always includes the most fun ways to learn!

The Lively Environmental Center is Everett School District’s outdoor classroom. Donated by J.W. Lively in 1980, the property has been used for hands-on environmental education by generations of students. During our field trips to Lively, students conduct chemical and biological water quality testing at Lively Creek using real scientific equipment, take a nature walk through forested trails, and spend some time getting to know the creatures in the soil and the water.

At Snohomish Conservation District, we aim to make the physical world real to children and show them how their actions, even at a young age, can have an impact on our environment.
